Fancy seeing you here.
Monday night marks the beginning of plenty of narratives as the Mets and Blue Jays face-off in the first of a four-game, home-and-home series. Tonight’s game features Noah Syndergaard, the former Blue Jays pitching prospect, facing his former organization and Jose Reyes, the former Met, facing his old team for the first time since he was a Marlin in 2012.
Later in this series in Toronto, we’ll also see Travis d’Arnaud matchup against R.A. Dickey, two players traded for each other in the 2012-2013 offseason. There’s a lot of intrigue, a lot of storylines and a lot of familiar faces on display in the next four games, and I’m personally excited to see how this fairs.
Sustained offense.
All of a sudden with the returns of Travis d’Arnaud and Dilson Herrera, this Mets offense seems to be getting into gear. After coming back from a 5-1 and 8-3 deficit on Sunday, hitting four home runs and scoring 10 runs in the process, the Mets have now scored 28 runs in their last five games since being no-hit and overall in the month of June, the team is averaging 4.23 runs per game–which would rank in the upper half in the majors this year. Facing a Blue Jays club that owns the 3rd worst team ERA in baseball (4.29), the Mets should have their share of chances over the next few ballgames.
