Mets, Padres complete Alex Torres trade, send Brad Wieck to Padres

BaronThe Mets and Padres officially completed their deal which sent Alex Torres to New York in late March.

The clubs announced LHP Brad Wieck has been sent to San Diego to complete the transaction.

Wieck, 23, is 3-5 with a 3.21 ERA and 74 strikeouts against 21 walks with a .256 opponents average allowed in 10 starts for Single-A Savannah this season.

Wieck was signed by the Mets as a seventh-round selection in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Oklahoma City University.

He made his professional debut last season with Single-A Brooklyn in the Mets organization, going 1-1 with a 1.40 ERA and 39 strikeouts against six walks and a .181 opponents average in 16 relief appearances.  He will be assigned to Single-A Fort Wayne for the Padres.
