The Mets selected INF/OF Desmond Lindsay with their first pick (53rd overall) in the 2015 first-year player draft on Monday.
And, he should officially be a Met and given his first assignment soon.
Sandy Alderson said on Thursday at Citi Field Lindsay and the Mets hinted they were close to agreeing to terms, and should have an official agreement soon.
“The way the draft works now, deals are cut pretty much simultaneous with selections,” Alderson explained.
Lindsay, 18, has committed to the University of North Carolina for next year. According to Baseball America, the slot value for the 53rd pick is about $1.1 million.
