For the second time in his young career, Mets RHP Jacob deGrom has been named co-National League Player of the Week for the week of June 1 – June 7.

He is joined by Dodgers LHP Clayton Kershaw as this week’s award winners.

He was absolutely tremendous last week, capping a stretch of five starts in which he is 4-0 with a 1.24 ERA. During that span, he’s allowed just 19 hits, five earned runs and only four walks with 44 strikeouts in 36 1/3 innings. He hit a bump in the road and a minor injury in late April and early May, but showed his maturity and poise to work through those problems to re-emerge as one of the premier pitchers in baseball, and clearly well on his way to his first All-Star Game.

DeGrom went 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA over two starts last week. He allowed seven hits. three walks with 18 strikeouts in starts in both San Diego and Arizona.

DeGrom was named National League Player of the Week once last year for the week ending July 27. He was also Rookie of the Month twice in 2014, both in July and September.

Overall, deGrom is 7-4 with a 2.42 ERA in 78 innings over 12 starts in 2015.

  1. Well-deserved and in good company! Please, PLEASE get deGrom and the rest of our wonderfully gifted Starting Pitchers some run support! They deserve it…hell, WE all deserve it! LGM and even though about 4 of the TOP TEN drafts picks are Short Stops, and we don’t have a First Round pick, maybe we can get our hands on a BAT!
