
The Mets fortified their minor league infield and outfield depth on Friday, signing IF/OF Brock Peterson to a minor league contract and assigning him to Double-A Binghamton.
Peterson, 31, last played in the big leagues with the Cardinals in 2013. His stint with St. Louis was brief – he went 2-for-26 with 2 RBI for St. Louis. That represents his entire major league resume.
Peterson is a career .274/.355/,463 hitter 13 minor league seasons. He’s hit 191 home runs in 1338 games as a professional in the Twins, Cardinals, Nationals and Dodgers systems.
This season, Peterson hit .186/.289/.351 in 29 games for Triple-A Rochester before being released by the Twins.
