
The Mets have officially lost another critical player to the disabled list.
The club placed Daniel Murphy on the 15-day disabled list with a left quadricep strain on Friday. He is eligible to return on June 20.
Taking Murphy’s place on the roster is Daniel Muno.Muno was optioned to the minor leagues after Tuesday night’s game to make room for Dillon Gee on the roster. But because Muno is replacing the injured Murphy, the Mets did not have to wait the necessary ten days before recalling him.
The is is the second leg injury Murphy has sustained in 2015. He injured his hamstring in mid-March, and was barely ready for Opening Day.Murphy has played in a league-high 55 games so far in 2015. He’s hitting .283/.335/.414 with 14 doubles, four home runs and 29 RBI in 215 plate appearances so far this season.
He’s hit .346/.390/.493 with 20 RBI in his last 37 games.
