On Wednesday night in San Diego, Terry Collins hinted the club could skip Dillon Gee’s next start with their upcoming off-day on Monday.
One of the reasons behind the idea, Collins explained, was to avoid having pitchers like Gee Matt Harvey having to wait seven days in between starts.
Now, they’re going to be waiting anyway.
Collins said on Thursday the team is likely staying the course with the six-man rotation despite Monday’s off-day, although they could skip a starter at some point down the line when other off-days interfere with the six-man rotation.
That means every starter between today and Sunday will pitch on six days rest a week apart.
