The road to recovery is nearly complete for two power armed Met relievers.
Vic Black allowed one hit in a scoreless eighth inning for Double-A Binghamton at NYSEG Stadium tonight. It was his second outing in as many nights and the first time he has pitched on back-to-back days during his rehab.
Black was throwing his fastball consistently in the low-90s, according to Lynn Worthy of the Binghamton Press and Sun Bulletin.
Bobby Parnell followed Black in the eighth inning – he walked one and struck out one and did not allow a run. He was throwing his fastball consistently in the mid-to-upper-90s, according to Worthy.
It’s the first time Parnell has seen his velocity at that level at any time since he underwent Tommy John Surgery over 13 months ago.
Black has been on the disabled list all year with weakness in his arm resulting from a herniated disc. Parnell has been on the disabled list while he recovers from Tommy John Surger.
