Vic Black has entered the next stage of his rehab from a herniated disc in his next at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton on Saturday.
Black pitched a scoreless seventh inning and allowed one hit with two strikeouts. His fastball velocity was mostly in the low 90s, but he topped out at 94 mph, according to Tim Heiman of the Binghamton Mets.
Black will presumably need to pitch back-to-back games before being considered for activation. His velocity has been steady in the low 90s in his second attempt to comeback from this injury – his average fastball velocity was 95.7 mph in 2014, according to FanGraphs.
Black has not pitched for the Mets this season. He was shutdown on March 9 during Spring Training after experiencing weakness in his right shoulder caused by the herniated disc.
