Earlier this week, Brandon Nimmo was diagnosed with a sprained ACL in his knee. He was prescribed rest and could return to baseball activities once the pain subsides.
On Friday night, Binghamton Mets manager Pedro Lopez told Lynn Worthy of the Binghamton Press and Sun Bulletin Nimmo has departed for the team’s minor league complex in Port St. Lucie to begin rehabbing his knee.
Lopez said Nimmo is expected to miss four to six weeks.
Nimmo, the Mets first selection (13th overall) in the 2011 first-year player draft, is hitting .297/.368/.420 in 155 plate appearance for the Double-A Binghamton Mets this season.
