The Mets added to their minor league system with another signing from international free agency on Monday, announcing they signed Cuban free agent catcher Lednier Ricardo.
Ricardo, 27 who bats right-handed, was the starting catcher on the Cuban National Team in 2012-2013. He played in the Cuban National Series for Camaguey and Cienfuegos from 2007-2013 and was an All-Star in 2012 and 2013.
He is a career .256/.320/.371 hitter in six seasons in Cuba with 26 home runs and 136 RBI in 415 games from 2007-2012.
