Bobby Parnell will pitch for St. Lucie again tomorrow

Bobby Parnell 1 slice

BaronLast week, Terry Collins was hopeful Bobby Parnell would be ready to shift his rehab assignment from Single-A St. Lucie to Triple-A Las Vegas by this week.

However, that has yet to happen.

Parnell is still in Florida and will make one additional rehab start tomorrow for St. Lucie, Sandy Alderson told Marc Carig of Newsday at the Manhattan Veterans Hospital this afternoon.

Alderson said over the weekend the club remains concerned about Parnell’s velocity, which has been lacking in his most recent rehab outings. He last pitched on Saturday at Tradition Field – he walked two and allowed a run on a hit, throwing 14 of his 28 pitches for strikes.

Parnell’s recovery from Tommy John Surgery has been slowed by a strained hamstring he sustained during Spring Training and forearm soreness in April. There remains no timetable for Parnell to return to the Mets bullpen.
