Mets vs BrewersHere’s what I’m looking for from the Mets today:

A trend, not an aberration.

The Mets offense exploded last night, scoring more runs in one game (14) than they had during their five-game losing streak combined (10). Now, obviously I don’t expect the Mets to put up double figures and crooked numbers night in and night out, but what I’m looking for today is if they can carry over the hot offense from yesterday into Sunday’s game. I sometimes hear people saying that you don’t want the team to “use up” all of their hits in one game, but as Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling emplafied on last night’s broadcast, that’s nonsense. I don’t see the Mets putting together a performance like yesterday’s (although that’d be nice) but let’s see them keep it up today and give their pitchers some breathing room.

It’s #Thorsday.

Noah Syndergaard makes his 2nd career start today, and first at Citi Field. It was a mixed bag for the pitcher known as “Thor” in his debut, but I saw a lot of positives. He was dialing his fastball up to 98 MPH consistently, dropped his proverbial hammer (the curveball) on a number of hitters and was able to get out of some jams. Syndergaard wound up allowing three runs in the 6th before he departed. While his major league debut is out of the way, I expect Thor to be pumped up today, in front of the home crowd for the first time. With Dillon Gee‘s rehab progressing and Terry Collins noncommittal on what will happen when he’s ready to return, Syndergaard is potentially pitching to stay in the majors. I expect a strong performance.
