Post game notes: Mets match franchise marks during 14 run outburst

The Mets defeated the Brewers by the score of 14-1 at Citi Field on Saturday night. They scored ten of their 14 runs in the fourth inning.

Here’s a look at their 14-run game statistically:

  • The ten-run fourth inning was the largest by a major league team since September 11, 2013 when Oakland scored 10 runs in the fourth inning at Minnesota.
  • The last time a National League club scored 10 or more runs in an inning was July 21, 2012 when St. Louis scored 12 runs in the seventh inning vs. the Cubs.
  • The Mets had nine hits in the fourth inning tonight, the most in an inning by the team since August 18, 2009 vs. Atlanta when the Mets had 10 hits in the fourth inning.
  • The nine hits by the Mets in the fourth inning are the most hits in an inning by any team this year.
  • The 14 runs the Mets scored on Saturday are equal to the most any team has scored in a game in Citi Field’s history. The Mets scored 14 runs in a 14-6 victory over the Tigers on June 22, 2010.
  • Saturday’s win was the team’s largest margin of victory for the Mets since June 27, 2012 when the Mets defeated the Cubs 17-1 at Wrigley Field.
