No timetable for Dilson Herrera to return

Yesterday, Dilson Herrera fractured a finger fielding ground balls during batting practice. He was subsequently placed on the 15-day disabled list.

On Saturday, Terry Collins said team doctors have not yet offered a timetable for Herrera to return.

Much like Travis d’Arnaud, it’s safe to expect Herrera will miss four to six weeks with this injury. If it takes the full six weeks, that means he would return around July 1 at the earliest. That’s just how long it takes bones to heal.

It certainly prolongs the Mets having to make a decision at the position for a while, although it’s obviously not under good circumstances.
