In the ninth inning of Friday night’s game at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton, Brandon Nimmo was forced to exit the game when he injured his knee stepping awkwardly on first base legging out an infield single.
A team spokesperson did not clarify the severity of Nimmo’s knee injury on Friday night, although B-Mets manager Pedro Lopez hopes it’s not serious.
“He’s not playing tomorrow,” Lopez told Lynn Worthy of the Binghamton Press and Sun Bulletin. “That’s for sure. Hopefully, it’s nothing serious. Right now, it’s day-to-day. We’ll see what New York wants to do.”
Nimmo will have his knee checked out by team doctors at the Hospital for Special Surgery on Monday.
Nimmo has hit .297/.368/.420 with two home runs and nine RBI in 34 game with the Binghamton Mets this season.
