By Michael Baron, MLB.com:
Bobby Parnell made his final rehab appearance for Single-A St. Lucie, and got roughed up in the process.
Parnell allowed a two out single and an RBI double in the first inning of last night’s 4-1 loss to the Tampa Yankees at Tradition Field.
Parnell was previously supposed shift his rehab to Triple-A Las Vegas, where he was expected to pitch on Sunday. However, Sandy Alderson told Mike Puma of the New York Post due to struggling, Parnell will pitch again for St. Lucie before the team decides what’s next for the rehabbing reliever.
Parnell’s velocity is still not where it’s expected to be. His fastball is still in the low 90s, although he has tipped the mid-90s on a few occasions.
Parnell is on the 15-day disabled list as he continues to rehab from a Tommy John Surgery. He was slowed by a hamstring strain in March and forearm soreness in mid-April.
