The Mets have procured some minor league depth at first base, signing 1B David Cooper and assigning him to Double-A Binghamton.
Cooper, 28, last played in the big leagues with the Blue Jays in 2012. He appeared in 45 games and hit .300 with a .788 OPS, four home runs and 11 RBI.
He was hitting .273 with two home runs and eight RBI in 74 plate appearances for the Lancaster Barnstormers, a team in the Independent Atlantic League.
