Vic Black to resume rehab assignment with Las Vegas next week

BaronVic Black has had a rough go of it in 2015.

He was shutdown after a spring outing on March 9 with what was described as shoulder weakness and soreness. He opened the season on the disabled list, and was shutdown during his rehab assignment with Double-A Binghamton after showing reduced velocity.

It was in late April the club revealed Black had suffered a herniated disc in his neck which was resulting in weakness in his arm.

Three weeks later, Black appears to be finally on-track.

He resumed throwing at the team’s minor league complex in Port St. Lucie, Florida last week, and Terry Collins told reporters Black is expected to resume his rehab assignment next week with Triple-A Las Vegas.

Collins did not offer a time table for Black to return, but like Bobby Parnell, he will likely have to work effective back-to-back days before getting back to the Mets.

Black is on the 15-day disabled list – he has not pitched this season.
