Juan Lagares makes remarkable plays with regularity, so much so it’s shocking when a ball gets over his head or by him in the outfield.
It would seem he has paid a price for one of his remarkable catches.
Lagares is out of Tuesday’s lineup with a shoulder strain he sustained making a diving catch at Citi Field last week, Terry Collins told reporters in Chicago on Tuesday afternoon.
The shoulder bothers Lagares when he throws and runs. As such, Collins might give him a day off tomorrow as well.
Collins said Lagares recently underwent an MRI on his shoulder, but nothing severe was revealed.
That likely means Kirk Nieuwenhuis will get another start tomorrow, unless Collins decides to slot him into right field and Curtis Granderson into center field.
