Bobby Parnell has been throwing bullpen sessions recently at the team’s minor league complex in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and today he will take another step towards returning from Tommy John Surgery.
Parnell will resume his rehab assignment tonight with the St. Lucie Mets, Assistant GM John Ricco told reporters in Chicago this afternoon.
Despite the good news, Ricco did not indicate when Parnell might return to the Mets.
Parnell has been on the 15-day disabled list as he continues to return from April, 2014 Tommy John Surgery. He has dealt with a hamstring strai and Doreen soreness since spring training, which has slowed his recovery down.
Update, 9:00 PM: Parnell appeared in Monday night’s game between the St. Lucie Mets and Tampa Yankees at Tradition Field tonight, and allowed three runs on two hits and a walk while blowing the save for Robert Gsellman.
Parnell also threw two wild pitches.
Parnell’s fastball velocity was mostly in the low-90s, but occasionally threw in the mid-90s, according to Jeff Moore of Baseball Prospectus.
