Game notes: Mets have a long history of success against Baltimore

The Mets will go for a series sweep of the Orioles tonight at Citi Field.

BaronThe two teams have met 29 times during the regular season, and five times during the postseason since 1969. Here’s a look at their history between one another:

  • The Mets are 20-9 all-time against Baltimore during the regular season which equates to a .690 winning percentage. It’s their second highest winning percentage against any opponent.
  • The Mets have won seven straight games against the Orioles, dating back to June 11, 2010. It’s their longest current winning streak against any AL opponent.
  • The Mets have won five straight games against Baltimore in New York.
  • A win tonight would match the club’s longest winning streak in franchise history – they ran a streak of eight consecutive wins against the Giants from June 3, 2008 to May 16, 2009.
  • The Mets are also 4-1 against Baltimore during the postseason – after losing Game 1 of the 1969 World Series in Baltimore, the Mets won four straight to win their first World Series title.
