Noah Syndergaard named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week

Noah Syndergaard slice

BaronNoah Syndergaard was dominant in two starts for Triple-A Las Vegas last week, putting together 14 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings while allowing six hits with 19 strikeouts in two starts.

For his two performances, Syndergaard has been named co-player of the week in the Pacific Coast League for April 27-May 3.

His last three starts have been fantastic for Las Vegas. He’s using all of his pitches and throwing them for strikes, he’s being aggressive inside the strike zone, and he’s finally starting to show signs he’s ready for the next step.

It looks like that next step could very well come when the Mets need a sixth starter later this month. What happens from there remains to be seen, but all signs are now pointing upward after an enigmatic last calendar year for the Mets’ top prospect.

Syndergaard, 22, is 2-0 with a 1.66 ERA in four starts for Triple-A Las Vegas in 2015.
