The Mets have restored some of the pitching depth they lost in December’s Rule 5 Draft on Monday.
RHP Logan Verrett cleared waivers and was returned to the Mets on Monday afternoon, and was outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Verrett was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2014 Rule 5 Draft before he was claimed off waivers by the Rangers on April 2.
Verrett, 24, was 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA in four games in relief for the Rangers before he was designated for assignment ten days ago.
It isn’t surprising he passed through waivers, given the time of year, his Rule 5 status and both his lack of big league experience and production.
Verrett, 24, was 11-5 with a 4.33 ERA in 28 starts last year for Las Vegas.
