Cesar Puello could resume baseball activities soon

BaronAt the end of Spring Training, the Mets placed OF Cesar Puello on waivers, as he was out of options and was not making the big league roster out of camp.

Puello had originally cleared waivers and was outright off the 40-man roster and into Triple-A Las Vegas.

However, it was then discovered Puello had suffered a stress reaction in his back. The Mets were forced to rescind Puello’s outright assignment, restore him back to the 40-man roster and place him on the 15-day disabled list in the Major Leagues.

Puedo has accrued service time while on the big league disabled list as well.

However, on Friday afternoon, Sandy Alderson said Puello will visit with team doctors this week, and could resume baseball activities soon after.

When Puello is activated – and it’s not clear when that will occur – it remains unlikely he will be carried on the big league roster. However, he is out of player options. As such, Puello would have to be removed from the 40-man roster, waived again and clear in order to remain Mets property in the minor leagues.
