David Wright could get into rehab games next week

David Wright waits to hit 2

BaronDavid Wright has resumed baseball activities at the team’s minor league complex in Port St. Lucie. He has been taking live batting practice and running at 70 percent, but not performing any turns during any of his runs.

The team was hopeful Wright might be able to return sometime during this weekend’s series against the Nationals, but that is no longer a possibility.

Wright remains in Port St. Lucie, and Sandy Alderson said at Citi Field on Thursday the hope is he will get into rehab games sometime next week, according to Mike Vorkunov of the Star Ledger.

If all goes well, Wright might be activated within a week of playing in rehabilitation games, possibly as soon as next Friday in Philadelphia.

Wright has been on the disabled list since April 15 with a mild strain of his hamstring. Alderson has said during Wright’s entire stint on the disabled list the injury would take at least three weeks to heal.

In this case, the team is hoping he could return four weeks following the initial injury.
