Mets vs MarlinsHere’s what I am looking for from the Mets tonight…

Go home with a split of the road trip.

They’ve had their ups, they’ve had their downs. They’ve had two very uplifting wins, one butt whipping, and two pretty disappointing losses. So, a series split seems appropriate given the last week in the Bronx and Miami. It would be nice if the Mets could head home ahead of their four-game series with the Nationals on a high note, and they have one of the most winningest active pitchers on the hill for them tonight to lead the charge. Go. Get. It.

MIchael Cuddyer must get going.

Cuddyer has hit a real rough patch over his last eight games, going 2-for-28 with three walks during that span. He’s making contact, but not particularly significant contact. It happens, but it’s high time he busts out of his slump and contributes to the middle of the order. As he has gone, so has the offense in David Wright’s absence, so it’s important he steps up and helps the offense find a way tonight.

Better defense, better execution.

The Mets were sloppy last night, both offensively and defensively. It was the second game on this road trip in which the play was particularly lackluster, and it’s cost them in both ballgames. A crisper game on defense would be appreciated, as would better situational hitting, particularly with runners in scoring position.
