Jon Niese (2-0, 1.50 ERA) will start for the Mets. Niese earned his second win of the year in his last start against the Braves when he allowed only one run and four hits in 6 2/3 innings. He’s only allowed two home runs in 18 innings, both of which coming off the bat against Braves OF Cameron Maybin. Niese has allowed no more than two earned runs in each of his last seven starts dating back to last September, and has allowed three earned runs or less in 33 of his last 36 starts, dating back to September, 2013. It’s been almost three years since Niese recorded a win against the Yankees, but he’s pitched well against them in four starts, going 1-1 with a 2.05 ERA.

Nathan Eovaldi (1-0, 3.12 ERA) will start for the Yankees. Eovaldi earned his first win as a Yankee in his last start against the Tigers, allowing only one run on eight hits in seven innings. Despite going 6-14 with a 4.37 ERA last year with the Marlins, he came within an out of recording his first 200 inning season of his career. The Mets battered Eovaldi to the tune of nine runs in 11 1/3 innings over two starts last year – he is 1-3 with a 4.62 ERA in 39 innings over seven starts in his career against the Mets.
