Mets vs YankeesHere’s what I am looking for tonight…

An encore with a different ending.

Last season, Jacob deGrom made his major league debut in the Subway Series vs. the Yankees, pitching seven stellar innings, allowing just a run on four hits, two walks while striking out six. It was almost the perfect debut for deGrom aside from one thing–the Mets didn’t score a single run for him, and he took the loss. If you’re a Mets fan you’ll absolutely take that same performance from deGrom tonight, let’s just hope the other facet of the game goes better.

Power showing?

So far this season, Curtis Granderson has yet to hit a home run, and just one extra-base hit in total. Granderson, though, returns to Yankee Stadium tonight, where he had back-to-back 40-home run seasons as a member of the Yankees. Curtis saw success in the Mets brief trip to the Bronx last year as well, with two home runs and five RBI in the two games there. As he returns to the stadium where he’s seen the most success, it would behoove Curtis, and the Mets, to be something sort of Grandish this weekend.

Don’t let up.

The Mets are 13-3, just completed a 10-0 homestand and are in the midst of an 11-game winning streak. Keep going. The Washington Nationals have yet to figure things out, sitting with a 7-9 record and six games behind the Mets in the standings, but at some point, you expect they’ll get it together. Before they do, the Mets need to win as many games as possible and continue to build a lead in the standings. Not only that, but who doesn’t want to keep a winning streak going, especially when it’s against the in-city rival Yankees?
