Bobby Parnell’s road back to the Major Leagues has hit another bump in the road.
Sandy Alderson told reporters on Friday at Yankee Stadium Parnell was examined by Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery, and has been diagnosed right forearm soreness.
Parnell will rest for five days – the pain is apparently no cause for concern.
Parnell has made three rehab appearances for Single-A St. Lucie, allowing three runs with three walks and two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. His fastball velocity has improved during his assignment, as he was recently clocked between 91-93 mph.
He had said during camp he hoped to return by mid-April, but it was always more realistic he would return in May. However, there is now no timetable for his return.
Parnell underwent Tommy John Surgery last April – he did not pitch in 2014.

Bobby Parnell has more than that. He has terminal familia-itis.
