Note: Attendance on the rise at Citi Field so far in 2015

mets-ticketsThere are more people coming to Citi Field so far in 2015.

And that’s a good thing.

In a report for Newsday, Cody Derespina writes the Mets attendance has averaged 35,268 over the first seven games of the home schedule, which marks the second best start since the ballpark opened in 2009.

That stands to reason. The club got an attendance boost from two starts by Matt Harvey in the first seven games, their home opener is typically a sellout or close to it, and the team has the best record in the National League over the first two weeks of the year.

Michael BaronThe Mets can have all of the promotions they want, have ticket promotions and special deals, post game concerts, and many other fun and creative events at the ballpark they’d like. They do a great job with their promotions, especially the bobbleheads (which I aim to collect every single one of them every year).

But the cure-all to selling a lot of tickets on a regular basis has been, and always will be winning baseball games.

So far, they’ve done just that, and ticket sales are a reflection of that winning.

It’s also been really fun and interesting to feel and hear the electricity in the ballpark over the first week of the year. The hunger, fire, energy and tone of the crowd is refreshing and has been sorely missed since the days of Shea Stadium – hopefully it lasts…
