Jon Niese will start tonight as the Mets go for their 9th win in a row and begin 8-0 at home for the first time in team history. The last time the Mets won more than eight consecutive games was July 5-17, 2008 when they won 10 straight.

Rich MacLeodHere are some notes on Niese ahead of his start:

  • Jon Niese has allowed three earned runs or less in 32 of his last 35 starts dating back to September 13, 2013.
  • Niese has allowed no more than two earned runs in each of his last six starts, dating back to September 8, 2014. It’s tied for the longest streak of his career, which he accomplished May 18-June 14, 2011).
  • While he’s currently got a streak going on the mound, Niese also has one at the plate, as he’s singled in each of his last four starts. His four-game hitting streak (dating back to September 20, 2014) is the longest among active pitchers and is tied for his career high.
  • In his last five starts against the Braves, Niese has a 2.20 ERA, but the Mets are 1-4 in those games.
  • Niese is 22-28 with a 3.47 ERA in his career at Citi Field.
  • In his career, Niese is 30-24 with a 3.67 ERA in 85 career starts before the All-Star break.
