Travis d’Arnaud has a fractured bone in hand, in a splint for three weeks

The Mets got further confirmation of the initial diagnosis on Travis d’Arnaud’s  fracture on Monday afternoon.

Michael BaronD’Arnaud was examined at the Hospital for Special Surgery on Monday and was diagnosed with a a metacarpal fracture of the little finger of his right hand.

D’Arnaud will be in a splint for three weeks and will be re-examined by doctors then. If the fracture is healed, he may resume baseball activities.

Based on this information, the news sounds better than originally expected, but it remains to be seen when d’Arnaud will ultimately return. If all goes as planned, presumably he would have to go on a rehab assignment before coming back to the Mets, which could still put him or a month or so away from returning. But, time will tell how this goes.

D’Arnaud will officially be placed on the 15-day disabled list before Tuesday’s game against the Braves.
