Travis d’Arnaud fractures hand after being hit by a pitch

Travis d'Arnaud 1 slice

Michael BaronThe Mets took another punch to the guy during Sunday’s game in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Travis d’Arnaud left in the bottom of the seventh inning after being hit on the hand by a pitch from Marlins RHP AJ Ramos, and fractured his right hand.

Anthony Recker replaced d’Arnaud.

This is a huge blow. D’Arnaud was hot at the plate and his catching was just starting to come into it’s own. He is undoubtedly out for an extended period of time now. It’s a tough pill to swallow.

I have to believe this means Kevin Plawecki will be recalled. The Mets have been clear that if Travis were to get injured, Plawecki would be the first guy up if the injury was long-term.

Well, this is a long-term injury to d’Arnaud – he is out up to two months, if not more.
