
Matt Harvey will start for the Mets this afternoon as the Mets go for their eighth win in a row and a four-game sweep of the Marlins. They are aiming for their first ever four-game sweep of Miami and their first four-game sweep since July 25-28, 2011 against the Reds.
Here are some notes on Harvey ahead of his start:
- Matt Harvey is one of only two Major League starters in the last 100 years to allow one run or less in 20 of his first 38 career games – Dwight Gooden is the other.
- Harvey is the only starter in the last 100 years to allow three runs or less in 33 of his first 38 career games.
- Harvey has allowed no more than five runs while striking out at least three in each of his first 38 games – no pitcher since 1916 has a streak longer than 26 such games.
- He has the second best WHIP (0.977) of any pitcher since 1921 through his first 38 career starts.
- Harvey is one of only 11 big league pitchers with at least six outings of at least eight strikeouts and no walks since the start of the 2013 season.
- Harvey has a 2.01 ERA in his career at Citi Field, although he’s 5-5 with nine no-decisions.
- During the month of April, harvey is 6-0 with a 1.72 ERA in his career, and 3-0 with a 2.77 ERA at home.
