Jeurys Familia, Jerry Blevins unavailable on Saturday

Michael BaronThe Mets cut their bullpen down to seven men on the active roster before Friday night’s game against the Marlins. Just a day later, the Mets will have to operate with six relievers and without both their closer and best left-handed specialist.

On Saturday at Citi Field, Terry Collins said both Jerry Blevins and Jeurys Familia will be unavailable during tonight’s game against the Marlins.

“We have some options and we will see what the match-ups are,” Collins said in regards to late inning scenarios on Saturday.

Blevins has worked two days in a row, three of the first five games on this home stand, and four times in the last six days overall. He has yet to allow a baserunner this season.

As for Familia, he’s recorded five saves since last Sunday, which leads the league. He’s worked in three of the last four games including two in a row, and in five of the last six games. He has nine strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings this season.

  1. I have to ask… Why does Terry feel he needs to tell the world who is and is not available? I really don’t get it.
