Vic Black pitches a scoreless inning for Single-A St. Lucie on Thursday

M BaronVic Black took another step closer to returning to the Mets on Thursday night.

Black is on a rehabilitation assignment with Single-A St. Lucie, and appeared in the eighth inning of their game against Brevard County in Port St. Lucie tonight. He faced four batters and retired three of them – the leadoff man reached on an error by SS Amed Rosario.

Black has yet to appear in back-to-back games, something which Terry Collins said is necessary before the team can consider activating Black.

Black is on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder soreness/weakness. He last pitched in a Major League Spring Training game on March 9.
