David Wright underwent an MRI at the Hospital for Special Surgery this morning on his injured right hamstring, revealing what was described as a mild strain. He had a cortisone shot, will rest for two days and resume baseball activities as tolerated.
As expected, the Mets placed Wright on the 15-day disabled list.
The Mets recalled IF/OF Eric Campbell from Triple-A Las Vegas to replace Wright on the active roster.
Campbell hit .263 with three home runs and 16 RBI in 85 games last year with the Mets. He had two home runs, two doubles, one triple and was hitting .550 in six games for Las Vegas.
Because Campbell was recalled within 20 days of his assignment to Triple-A, the Mets do not have to use the player option on him at this time.
