Mets home opener historical notes

The Mets defeated the Phillies by the score of 2-0 at Citi Field in their home opener on Monday afternoon. Here are some historical notes on the Mets and their home openers:

  • This was the tenth time the Mets shut out their opponent in their Home Opener. They last did it on Opening Day, 2012 against the Braves. The Mets also have shutout their opponents in their home openers in 1998, 1993, 1988, 1983, 1977, 1973, 1972 and 1968, and today marked the fourth time the Mets have shutout the Phillies in their home opener, also done in 1998, 1983 and 1973.
  • The Mets improved to 34-20 in Home Openers, including 4-3 at Citi Field.
