Vic Black has made significant progress after dealing with shoulder soreness and weakness for the better part of spring training, although he was placed on the 15-day disabled list before the season started, retroactive to nine days before Opening Day.
He returned to the mound last week, appearing in minor league games last week and was reportedly throwing his fastball in the mid-90s.
While he and the club had an eye on activating Black on April 12, Sandy Alderson told reporters after Monday’s game he doesn’t expect Black will be activated on Sunday.
Alderson did not say if Black had suffered any setbacks during the rehab process.
