Update, 3:08 PM: Vic Black told reporters he felt really good after his outing on Wednesday.

However, Black told reporters he will remain in Port St. Lucie when the team breaks camp tomorrow afternoon and pitch in a minor league game on Saturday.

As such, Black will likely go on the disabled list.

Original Post, 1:44 PM: With five days to go before Opening Day, it remains uncertain whether or not Vic Black will be available for the start of the season.

However, on Wednesday, Black appeared in a minor league game in Port St. Lucie and faced three batters. He issued a walk and hit a batter in his outing, but was throwing his fastball between 93-94 mph, according to Mike Vorkunov of the Star Ledger.

Black has been dealing with shoulder soreness and has not appeared in a Grapefruit League game since March 9. An MRI on his shoulder didn’t show any structural damage.

If Black begins the season on the disabled list and he does not appear in a big league game again this spring. his stint on the disable list can be backdated by up to ten days before Opening Day, meaning he would be eligible to be activated next weekend in Atlanta.
