Up until now, Daniel Murphy was limited to jogging to first base in minor league games.
But today, Murphy might have taken a major step towards being available on Opening Day, as he went 1-for-3 in a minor league game and he ran the bases, the team said.
Murphy was diagnosed with a pulled hamstring 11 days ago, and both Sandy Alderson and Terry Collins have expressed pessimism Murphy would be ready by Opening Day.
Despite today’s progress, it’s still unclear if Murphy will be available next week – his status will be determined when rosters are due by Sunday.
