The Mets visit the Nationals at 5:05 PM tonight at Space Coast Stadium in Viera. Here are some of the things I’m looking for in today’s game…
Matt Bowman is in for Jon Niese.
Jon Niese was originally slated to start Thursday night’s game against Washington but due to weather concerns, the Mets opted to go with pitching prospect Matt Bowman. While he won’t make the team out of camp, Bowman is an interesting arm. You can read more about Bowman in this story I wrote about him earlier in Spring Training.
Wilmer Flores is back in the line-up.
After missing a few days due to a bruised foot, Wilmer Flores is back in the line-up and starting at shortstop. Flores’ status seemed to be up in the air for a couple of days as he was in a walking boot, but after X-rays revealed that nothing was broken, Wilmer can focus on continuing his strong month of March.
Can Juan Lagares stay hot?
Coming off of a 2-for-3 game from the lead-off spot, including a two-run home run off of New York Yankees reliever Dellin Betances, Juan Lagares is looking to stay hot at the plate. After yesterday’s performance, the Gold Glover is batting .395 this spring, and will be back in the lead-off spot against the Nats tonight.
Today’s game can be seen on MLB.tv, and can be heard on WOR 710 or MLB Gameday Audio.
