Daniel Murphy made more progress on Thursday as he recovers from a pulled hamstring.
Murphy ran in Port St. Lucie today and had no issues in doing so, tweets Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.
He hit off a tee and did fielding drills at first base yesterday, and could appear in a minor league game as soon as this weekend.
On Tuesday, Sandy Alderson expressed optimism Murphy would be ready for Opening Day
Murphy will probably stay on the minor league side for the duration of camp. By keeping him on the minor league side, the Mets can backdate a stint on the disabled list by up to ten days before Opening Day if he needs more time.
If Murphy comes back and injures his hamstring within that ten day threshold, a DL stint cannot be backdated.
