Bobby Parnell takes another step forward, pitches in minors game

Bobby Parnell

M BaronBobby Parnell took another step towards his return to the big leagues on Wednesday.

Parnell pitched one inning in a minor league game and allowed no runs and one hit, throwing 12 of his 17 pitches for strikes.

“I hope to return in May, but let my body and arm tell me when I’m ready to come back,” Parnell said, according to the Bergen Record’s Matt Ehalt.

Parnell is still building arm strength and stamina. He was reportedly throwing his two-seam fastball in the upper 80s, and reached 92 mph with his four-seam fastball, similar to his first outing over the weekend.

Parnell underwent Tommy John Surgery last April. He had been sidelined with a strained hamstring this spring.
