Update, 4:10 PM: Terry Collins said after Tuesday’s game Flores could return to Grapefruit League play on Thursday.
Original Post, 7:05 AM: While x-rays on Wilmer Flores’ foot came back clean, it remains unclear when he will return to Grapefruit League play.
Flores returned to the Mets clubhouse on Sunday and said the pain in his foot is to a point he’s having issues walking, according to Mike Puma New York Post.
While Terry Collins isn’t sure when Flores would be back, he didn’t believe the absence would be long.
“It got him right in the joint,” Collins said on Monday. “It may be another two days before he is out there.”
Flores also insisted his absence would be brief and remains unconcerned about his status for Opening Day.
“I’m not worried at all,” Flores said on Monday, according to Rubin. “I hope it will just take a few days. That’s it.”
Flores will attempt to throw, stretch and hit on Tuesday, but will refrain from running, Rubin tweeted.
Flores took a foul ball of his foot in the third inning of Sunday’s game against the Yankees and was later diagnosed with a bruise.
