Mets officially announce initial regular season rotation

Bartolo Colon

M BaronTerry Collins has provided clarity to a busy topic this spring, announcing their initial starting rotation for the regular season.

Collins told reporters Bartolo Colon will start on Opening Day against the Nationals. He will be followed by Jacob deGrom on April 8 and Matt Harvey on April 9.

That means deGrom will start the home opener on Monday, April 13 against the Phillies, and Harvey will start the second home game on Tuesday April 14.

“It’s always an honor to start on Opening Day,” Colon said after Monday’s 12-3 win agains the Marlins. “Anyone on the staff could have been named the Opening Day starter. I am looking forward to it. I think we’ve got a chance to have a great season and I want to do my part.”

As I wrote yesterday, this was all expected and makes sense for a number of reasons, which you can read about here.
