Matt Harvey will not pitch the home opener on April 13

M BaronOn Sunday, Terry Collins offered some more clarity for how his rotation will shake out to start the season.

After the Mets 6-0 win over the Yankees at Tradition Field on Sunday, Collins said Matt Harvey would not start the home opener against the Phillies on April 13.

Collins said earlier in the day they would be announcing the team’s Opening Day starting pitcher tomorrow.

Right now, it’s seems Harvey and Jacob deGrom will pitch in the opening series against Washington in some order. If I had to take a bet, I’d say deGrom will follow Colon in game 2, and Harvey will go in the day game to close out the series in game 3. That way, Harvey goes when its potentially warmer outside, and he would follow deGrom (who would be in line to get the home opener) in the second game at home the following week.
