M BaronDaniel Murphy
told reporters in Port St. Lucie on Friday he remains day-to-day after injuring his right hamstring in a game against the Cardinals on Thursday.

Murphy said he felt better on Friday after initially injuring his leg yesterday.

Still, even the most minor hamstring injuries can take a while to heal. If Murphy needs to be placed on the disabled list to start the year, it can be backdated by a maximum of ten days prior to Opening Day.

However, if he appears in a Major League Spring Training game within ten days of Opening Day and reinjures his hamstring, then he can only be disabled back to the last day he played in a big league game.

Update, 4:40 PM: Terry Collins said on Friday afternoon Murphy went for an MRI on his hamstring, and will miss at least a week, according to Kristie Ackert of the Daily News.
