Vic Black’s rehabilitation program will have to wait a few more days, and his status for Opening Day is becoming more and more uncertain as a result.
In a report for the Daily News, Kristie Ackert says Black has more pain in his shoulder after throwing off flat ground earlier this week, and will refrain from throwing for a few more days.
Black has not pitched in a game since last week after reporting a shoulder problem. He then underwent an MRI which only showed tendinitis.
Buddy Carlyle would seem like an obvious candidate to replace Black on the roster, if Black isn’t ready for Opening Day. They could also consider Zack Thornton who has thrown the ball really well this spring. But, like Carlyle, he isn’t on the 40-man roster.
Alternatively, they could look at Erik Goeddel since he’s already on the 40-man roster, but he has struggled this spring and just doesn’t seem like he’s ready.

I read on another blog that Cody Satterwhite is being considered as an option. Is that true? Could Satterwhite break camp?

Don’t think so. He was reassigned to minors camp and is not on the 40-man.
